about

This song is very special to me. It's about overcoming self-doubt and realizing not just your potential, but your overall being. One of our musicians on this song caught COVID-19 while recording the record. Prayers up to him and a speedy recovery. I did this song with the artist that I opened for on my first show ever. It's a dope 360 for me artistically. When you're living in your truth, you're never wrong. You're always right.

lyrics

Never expected I would turn out this way
Passed around disregarded, told me get out the way
Ironic I paid the dues, they had the price to pay
Now you’re all eating crow, like you controlling
My outcome when I never doubted my own abilities
Thought I’d make it being like you, it wasn’t real to me
Told me that my image ain’t cool, nobody’s feeling me
There’s always an exception to rules, that’s my soliloquy
Never was the first pick, but I made the first pitch
Everybody told me no, too much of a nerd, quit
Put my own money down, never let a broken person
Next to me, or allow them to determine my own destiny
I just tell them I’m a king so they won’t forget it
They say whatever, I just smile they don’t know no better
This is really for the hustlers and for all the skeptics
Though this hook is for the record, here’s my message for the record

I knew I would have the throne before I even knew myself
Used to have to dodge some stones, all I really wanted was help
But I kept working
I kept fighting
I’m so certain
I will triumph
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And you can’t throw me off, sho you right
When the clouds fall and the dark’s rising
I cannot keep quiet
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And they can’t throw me off, sho you right
Never had doubts, no compromising
Ooh I’m doing just fine
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And they can’t throw me off, sho you right

I’m like a track star jumping over these hurdles
Trying to make a way to get off the corner of Myrtle
I lend my voice to the voiceless and it’s priceless
Opening minds, I know they hoping I might miss
Trying to say that my message ain’t gonna reach ‘em
A waste of time if I’m really trying to teach ‘em
I’m just trying to give ‘em jewels and give ‘em tools
‘Cause I know they want us all to live as fools
They ain’t trying to stop me – trying to stop us
They ain’t just trying to block me – trying to block us
I ain’t just gonna sit back and not fuss
They see we all trying to get on like a stop bus
But this is the day that I’ve decided
To accept all the criticism that I’ve invited
Till it just may come a time when I take the joint
Same time I will arrive at my breaking point

I knew I would have the throne before I even knew myself
Used to have to dodge some stones, all I really wanted was help
But I kept working
I kept fighting
I’m so certain
I will triumph
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And you can’t throw me off, sho you right
When the clouds fall and the dark’s rising
I cannot keep quiet
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And they can’t throw me off, sho you right
Never had doubts, no compromising
Ooh I’m doing just fine
In the end, all I know, I’m always right
And they can’t throw me off, sho you right

about

Stephen Redhead Capitol Heights, Maryland

Hiphop artist from Capitol Heights, MD with an odd personality and weird stories. I can barely cook for myself except for breakfast and Rice Krispie Treats. I'm very social and can get to a lot of parties by name, but I rather watch my copy of "Machete" and Leslie Nielsen flicks at home. Oh yeah, and I'm black! ... more
